I've researched this extensively, but I'm interested in people's opinions and experiences.
I...am considering becoming a vegan, or at least a vegetarian.

just been looking at book about the human body with my 8 year old boy and got to an 'interesting' part.
"dad, what is a penis?".
"erm, the appendage between your legs" (i do try to use proper words with him so was surprised he asked).
hedgehog...*snickers*
I remember the Ladybird book of the human body. As a six year old its like "you've got to be kidding me right?" yuck! - off to play football..........
That made me lol!
The original post was pretty cute though.
As for me, I learned a lot form the YPA books...unfortunatley. I thought masturbating was perverted. and didn't really understand oral and anal sex very well. Or regular sex...even with an actual health book to flip through as i got a bit older, i still didn't get it. Of course, I started to understand more as i got older... and luckily my boyfriend has tought me a lot.
so i thought i was a pretty accepting person.
sure i grew up in a bigoted cult who hates gay people.. now i'm an atheist who has no reason to care about anyones sexual prefferences.. .
but i've watched inverviews of trans people.
If you care about them you treat them the way they present themselves and want to be treated. It's that simple.
Exactly.
Although I think the general public needs to understand more about transexuality in order to avoid complicating things and sharing ignorant viewpoints, and that would mke it easier for them to remember that they, along with everyone else, should be treated as they wnt to be treated, not as if they were some strange, practically unhuman group (not to say anyone here would think that, but some people act like they do IRL). For instance, I think some JWs I know seem to understand transexuality even less than homosexuality (god forbid you mention bisexuality). The word "perverts" abound in such discussions.

Gender is a social construct, whereas sex is physical.
Just wanted to point out that part of NC's post.
Carry on...
i'm leaving this pretty open, but the last great deal i got was a new-quality steif plush (about $70 dollar value, i'd optimistically guess, when it was new).
for about 2 or 3 bucks.
at a yard sale i think.
Oh, I have another one: I bought a great quality denim jacket for pennies, literally. Not new condition, but very well-made.

I don't really know anything about transexuality., so I can't offer any firm opinions, but I really like finally awake's post. That's all I can say at the moment. I'm looking forward to more comments though.

:What was the last great deal you got?
Actually, it was a trade I did. I traded slavery for freedom, no life for a real life, a menial trade for a real profession (several, actually), minimal sex for all the sex I could handle, 25 hours wasted per week for 25 hours I could enjoy any way I wanted, a false "hope" for a realistic viewpoint and fake friends for real friends.
It was a good trade.
Farkel
That DOES sound like a good trade. :)

A frivilous buy but I was happy about it. Still am.
this is wide open for all - lets have fun!.
i will start -.
question # 1) why dont my children come see me any more?.
How can I avoid the snare of photography?
*dies laughing*
that is, for those of you who actually think that hitting children is wrong, what types of discipline do you find more effective?
i'm not a parent but when dealing with kids, i've seen that time-outs tend to make kids feel isolated and can really hurt them.
if they're near others and are checked up on frequently, it seems ok. but when they're completely ignored, that is just bad.
I said I had little experience dealing with kids. I was asking for opinions and advice. I wanted to learn HOW to treat kids, not share all my knowledge. If you see my comments on here, I did not attempt to pretende that I know a lot. I know that I am not knowledgable. That's WHY I ASKED THIS QUESTION. Please don't say my observations are BS. Please.
And yes, I've been with very disobedient kids who listened to me more than their parents simply because I wasn't their parent and was more of a playmate or thought they could manipulate me in some way. I know that. That doesn't mean that I know nothing about dealing with kids. It means I know nothing about PARENTING. Which I've admitted.
